Yesterday i went out to do a little ice fishing spent 2 hrs fishing caught some nice crappie and gills, but thats another story for another forum. But while on the ice I was getting this feeling telling me i really needed to get in the woods this afternoon.
So packed up and drove home, showered and changed and drove out to the suburbia spot as i call it. It's been my hot spot for seening a lot of deer.
I get up in my stand. It's really beautiful in the woods right now. We have fresh snow covering the trunks up to all the branches. It's actually hard to see in the woods because everything is whited out.
About 20 minutes into my sit. Three yearlings come busting into the woods from behind me. Happened so fast it caught me off guard and i couldn't get them stopped either.
But i stayed ready. Figuring momma had to be coming, or near bye. She come into the woods real cautious, i had the wind in my favor so i was trying to figure out what had her nervious. I was at the top of the ridge and 18 ft over her. Could the wind be swirling enough for her to wind me. I thought i had sprayed myself down pretty good too.
It took her a good 10 minutes to start sneeking in farther. The whole time i am standing holding the bow in ready postion. Arms and knees shaking. I am breathing through my nose to help keep myself calm and keep the scent down. She is now directly broadside , but only feet from the tree. I don't like taking those directly downward shot anymore. So i let her walk to about the 20 yd mark. And stopped her.Already at full draw i placed the pin on her and touched off the release.Recovery was easy. She went down with'in 30 yds in veiw.
I must have gotten my wet glove on the lens.
